Foodie Box Love - Sweet & Salty Box

January 2026 - Sweet & Salty

Some cravings don’t want to choose sides — sweet and salty belong together. This month’s box is built for snack breaks, game nights, cheese boards, and “just one more bite” moments… featuring maple-forward treats, bold masa chips, and a granola that somehow disappears way too fast.

Snacking Fun Facts

Cheetos were invented by a Frito-Lay salesman inspired by elote, the Mexican street corn snack.

Sugar Bob’s — Maple Spiced Pecans

Smoked maple syrup, six aromatic spices, and pure maple sugar combine to create a bright, distinctive snacking pecan. Delicious straight from the bag — and a sommelier’s delight paired with well-aged blue cheese and big red Cabernets.

Why we love them: Sweet, smoky, spiced… and dangerously snackable.

Meet the maker: - Sugar Bob’s started with Vermont sugarmaker Rob “Sugar Bob” Hausslein, a handmade sugarhouse, and one question: what else could maple syrup do?

Sugar Bob’s — Pure Maple Syrup

A farmer favorite made during the latter half of the season — big flavor with notes of caramel and molasses. Perfect on whole grain flapjacks. Similar to the old Grade “B,” but by no means second rate.

Why we love it: Deep, bold maple character that tastes like Vermont in a bottle.

Meet the maker: Rob has been sugaring in the Vermont woods for over 40 years, working alongside friends, neighbors, and the same crew of producers he still works with today. Those long days at the boil sparked something special — built on experimentation, collaboration, and deep respect for the trees, the fire, and the people behind the process.

Ancient Crunch — MASA Chips, Cobanero

These MASA Chips are made with organic nixtamalized corn, grass-fed beef tallow, and sea salt — then seasoned with a bold blend including onion, paprika, lime, tomato, beetroot, and a variety of chilies. Non-GMO, shelf-stable, sugar-free, with a shelf life of 3–6 months.

Why we love them: Big crunch, real ingredients, and a deep savory flavor that makes dips optional.

How they’re made: Ancient Crunch starts with nixtamalized corn tortillas (an ancient Aztec method that makes corn more digestible), fries them in 100% grass-fed tallow, then seasons with natural spices sourced from artisanal growers worldwide — no seed oils, pesticides, or artificial additives.

Back Roads Granola — Dark Chocolate Pecan Granola

An abundance of organic nuts, seeds, and fruit, slowly roasted to golden brown. Features premium Italian dark chocolate chunks, pecans, and cranberries — with 4g sugar per serving and no sodium.

Why we love it: Dessert vibes, breakfast-ready — and perfect over yogurt, ice cream, or eaten by the handful.

Meet the maker: Back Roads Granola is a family-owned, women-owned business in Southern Vermont, focused on a truly clean product line. They use non-GMO certified organic ingredients, no added sugar (only Vermont maple syrup), no added salt, and no canola oil (sunflower oil instead). Products are vegan and gluten-free (under 5ppm), and ship fresh from the oven.
