Easy Baked BBQ Chicken Wings with Spicy BBQ Sauce
Share
These baked chicken wings are basically the MVP of your Super Bowl spread. They’re crispy, saucy, and just messy enough to make everyone forget about the score for a minute. We’re keeping things easy (no deep fryer, no stress) while layering bold flavor from two fan-favorite boxes—the Hot & Spicy and BBQ Lover's boxes—using Rising Smoke BBQ Rub and finishing with Mikey V’s Burnt Ends Reverse Sear BBQ Sauce for that sticky-sweet, finger-licking payoff. Consider this your sign to stock the cooler, claim your spot on the couch, and let the wings do the talking.
Ingredients
- 2–2½ lb chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
- 1–1½ tbsp Rising Smoke BBQ Rub (to taste)
- 1 tbsp baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Mikey V’s Burnt Ends Reverse Sear BBQ Sauce, for tossing and serving
- Optional: chopped chives or green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Prep the wings: Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels (this is key for crispiness). Place them in a large bowl.
- Season: Toss the wings with olive oil, baking powder, and Rising Smoke BBQ Rub until evenly coated.
-
Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange wings in a single layer.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway, until the skin is golden and crispy and internal temp reaches 165°F. - Sauce: Transfer hot wings to a clean bowl and toss with Mikey V’s Burnt Ends Reverse Sear BBQ Sauce until well coated.
- Serve: Garnish if you want to be fancy, serve immediately, and accept compliments graciously.
Tips
- For extra-crispy wings: Let the wings air-dry uncovered in the fridge for a few hours before baking. Removing excess moisture helps the skin crisp up beautifully in the oven.
- Customize the heat: This BBQ sauce brings a noticeable kick. Serve it on the side with ranch and/or blue cheese so guests can control their heat level, or set out a small flight of hot and BBQ sauces for a fun, foodie-style tasting.
- Optional caramelization: For extra stickiness and deeper flavor, return the sauced wings to the oven for 5–7 minutes, or broil for 1–2 minutes—keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
